We Have Winners

Heather and Morgen are the big winners! I will be bringing home treats
for both of you.

Watched this with a big bunch of people at the Fancy Food Show this
morning! I loved it. All of those millions of people and the flags
flying brought tears to my eyes!

Where In The World....,.

Can you guess where I am this weekend? The first person to guess (who
I have not actually told) will get a treat from this fabulous city.

Cookbook: How To Cook Everything

On Saturday morning I woke up to snowflakes falling and I knew it would be the perfect day to make a recipe I had been wanting to make for awhile...homemade Macaroni and Cheese. I pulled out a cookbook I have never used  How to Cook Everything by Mark Bittman.

After I read through the recipe I pulled on my winter boots and ventured out into the snow and drove to the grocery store to purchase the necessary ingredients Milk, Bay Leaves, Pasta, Butter, Sharp Cheddar, Parmesan and Bread Crumbs.

I loved how this turned out.  It was the perfect day to make this and it tasted great as I ate it while watching it snow!

I loved this book.  It is staying in the cookbook collection and I think I might buy another Mark Bittman cookbook.  This cookbook has recipes for everything from Salmon to Caramelized Apple Tart.

Cookbook:From Our House To Yours

I began the Cookbook Challenge 2009 with a recipe from the book From Our House To Yours comfort food to give and share. This is a book from Chronicle Books. This is a book filled with recipes from 50 famous chefs and authors and a portion of the proceeds from the book will benefit Meals On Wheels of San Francisco All of the recipes are designed to be shared with neighbors or friends. Most of the recipes include instructions on the best ways to prepare and deliver the recipes including make ahead and reheating instructions.
The recipe I made was on Page 51 Polenta Lasagna with Tomatoes and Peppers.
It was fantastic.  It was filled with polenta, ricotta, spinach and mozzarella cheese.....how could that not be great?
I took it to my parents house where where we reheated it. It was great and it was also great when I reheated it for lunch the next day.

I really like this cookbook and plan to keep it and cook more things from this book.

Cookbook Challenge 2009

I am coming forth to admit an addiction....

COOKBOOKS

During the hoilday break I pulled out all of my cookbooks and realized I might have a problem. I have over 100 cookbooks which might not be so many for someone who actually cooks but I don't really cook so why do I have so many cookbooks? I sorted though the books and kept only the ones that I really liked and donated the rest.
I have 88 books left in my collection and I have made the goal to cook something out of each book this year.  After I have made the recipe and spent some time looking through the book I will decide if I want to keep the book in my collection or donate it.
